During the March 10th Santa Clara Chapter WAAT meeting, Marcella will be speaking about self-compassion and recovery. With self-compassion, we’re better able to recognize and to face when we’re overstressed, overworking, overeating, overanalyzing, or overreacting and to take a kinder and more sustainable approach to life’s challenges. Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves when needed, relate wholeheartedly to others, and be more authentically ourselves. Self-compassion also provides the support and inspiration required to make necessary changes in our lives and reach our full potential. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing, less anxiety, depression and stress, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and satisfying personal relationships.
